This is a first for the Early Years Sector.

You will join us as a SENDCO (early years qualified) at our Berryfields Day Nursery in Aylesbury.  Your role will include:

  • Implementing the SEND Policy and the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and raising awareness with colleagues, parents, and children accordingly; you will utilise one-one meetings, team meetings and parent meetings to provide key information and updates on new and/or changing legislation.  You will also attend other relevant meetings and forums as required.
  • Ensuring the environment and resources raise children’s self-esteem and self-image with regard to SEND, meet the needs of every individual, are continuously updated and replenished, and are available to staff at all times.
  • Acting as a positive role model whilst you use observation and assessment to monitor practice within the nursery to ensure the needs of every individual are promoted so that they feel recognised, acknowledged, and valued; you will support colleagues and identify training needs to ensure each Key Person has the knowledge and skills to be able to fully understand and meet the needs of their key children.
  • Supporting colleagues to complete Initial Assessments, Action Plans and Target documents, and facilitate meetings to set and review these as required; you will foster a supportive manner, demonstrate sensitivity, take into account parent’s views and ensure learning journeys, the Monitoring Register and other records meet the legal requirements.  You will also liaise with other professionals as necessary, supporting referrals and funding applications.

This role is part-time basis and you will work 16 hours a week, all-year-round.  Your shifts will fall between the hours of 07:30-18:30 on Tuesday & Thursday or Tuesday & Friday.

We are seeking a very special person to join us in this SENDCO role.  Someone who:

  • Is naturally nurturing, caring and compassionate and can effectively and sensitively communicate with others.
  • Has a secure understanding and experience of implementing the EYFS and the SEND Code of Practice 2015, and ideally holds a SENDCO qualification.
  • Can be a positive role model to colleagues and also to the children in their care, effectively supporting their peers to meet every child’s individual developmental and care needs.
  • Enjoys contributing within a busy, team environment. 

We are offering an hourly pay rate of:

  • £13.61-£14.27 if you’re early years qualified to level 6 or above.
  • £12.50-£14.27 if you’re qualified to level 3, 4 or 5.
